1x1 Design Announces Asheley St. John and Maddi Riester to serve on American Institute of Architects (AIA) Boards
COLUMBIA, S.C. February 9, 2026 - 1x1 Design is proud to announce two team members who will be serving on local American Institute of Architects boards.
Asheley St. John has been elected to continue her service on the AIA South Carolina board, serving this year as Secretary-Treasurer. This comes after previous terms of service as Midlands Director and Communications Director for the state chapter.
Maddi Riester has been elected to join the AIA Columbia board. Maddi will be serving as Communications Director for the local section, with duties including everything from creating graphics for events to helping maintain newsletters and communicate with sponsors.
"I was interested in joining the board to be more involved with the community and to meet other emerging professionals and architects in the area. Communications is a great way to reach out to all aspiring architects, and I hope to bridge the gap for students studying Architecture at Midlands Technical College, " states Maddi, a graduate of both Midlands Technical College and Clemson University.
Asheley adds, "I am thrilled to support Maddi in her service to AIA Columbia. As past president of the organization, it is always exciting and humbling to see the next generation of leaders become involved. I am, also, very excited about a new era of AIA South Carolina, as our board works to support a new Executive Director and staff and exploring opportunities with the newly opened Center for Architecture."
