1x1 Design Receives People's Choice Award for Ember
COLUMBIA, S.C. September 10, 2026 - 1x1 Design is pleased to announce that Ember has received the 2026 People's Choice Award in the Retail | Restaurant Design category. Presented as part of the AIA South Carolina Design Awards program and co-hosted by AIA South Carolina and the South Carolina Architectural Foundation, the People's Choice Awards recognize exceptional design among projects selected by public vote.
Located in the heart of downtown Lexington, Ember transforms a former restaurant space into an elevated steakhouse that pairs refined sophistication with inviting warmth. Distinctive dining areas, rich textures, subtle brass accents and thoughtfully designed lighting create a memorable atmosphere for everything from a lively evening out to a quiet celebration. Every detail was considered to make Ember feel polished and special—yet comfortable enough to settle in and stay awhile.
"Returning to 101 West Main Street-a building we first renovated in 2014-and taking on our first restaurant project in several years made Ember especially meaningful for us," said Asheley Scott St. John, AIA, LEED AP, President and owner of 1x1 Design. "It reminded us how rewarding it is to create spaces that become part of a community's shared experience. To have the design recognized by the people who experience and enjoy it is a tremendous honor. We are grateful to the entire project team for the collaboration that brought Ember to life, and we look forward to seeing it remain a vibrant part of downtown Lexington for years to come."
