Kaminsky's Dessert Cafe

Located in the heart of Columbia's historic Vista district, Kaminsky's Dessert Cafe transformed a series of former warehouse spaces into one of the city's most beloved dessert and nightlife destinations.

Architectural and interior design services were provided for the adaptive reuse of interconnected historic buildings at 928-930 Gervais Street. The project included extensive interior demolition, structural modifications, new mechanical and electrical systems, and the complete redesign of the space to support a modern hospitality experience.

The transformation of the former warehouse embraced the building's industrial character while creating a warm and inviting atmosphere for guests. Exposed brick walls, original wood structure, and industrial-inspired details celebrate the history of the space, while comfortable seating, warm lighting, and an open layout encourage visitors to relax and stay awhile. A lively central bar and dessert display serve as the heart of the café, drawing guests together to enjoy handcrafted desserts and memorable experiences. Large openings between previously separate spaces create a seamless flow throughout the interior while preserving the character and scale of the historic building.

The result is a thoughtful blend of historic preservation and contemporary hospitality design-an authentic Vista destination that continues to be a favorite gathering place for residents and visitors.
